IMAGES OF ANTONY GORMLEY'S ANOTHER
PLACE
When Ron started photographing 'Another
Place', he felt inspired to portray the work of the artist in
a way which captures the feel and spirit of the installation.
"We have wonderfully atmospheric skies and seas here at Crosby
and the moment I saw the statues I felt something exciting had
arrived on the beach, a sculpture which I feel portrays the insignificance
of man in the vast space of earth and sky, yet at the same time
standing fast against the relentless wear and tear of the elements.
This is the spirit I have tried to portray in the photographs
I have taken and to combine it with the beauty of the Sefton coastline.
The figures have created a wonderful foreground, creating a haunting
beauty that adds to the drama of the changing weather conditions
and the coastal scenery."
The images are available as limited
edition Giclée Art Prints, Art Cards and Fine Art Postcards
Before the arrival of the statues
the beach was a much underused area, the installation brought
life and beauty to the area. Their stillness has added an ethereal
quality to the landscape and the beach has been alive with people
at all times of the day and in all weathers, enjoying the everchanging
scenes and moods created by the figures. The 'Iron Men of Crosby'
are probably the greatest tourist attraction that this area of
Sefton has ever had.

Dusk falls at high tide, a container ship passes seaward, the
waves blur into mist; only the iron men remain solid and unmoving,
adding to the eerie beauty and silence at this time of day.
